The company IPEC, owned by the Covaciu family, one of the main IKEA suppliers on the local market, estimates for 2024 business of over 33 million euros, up 15% compared to last year, according to ZF calculations on based on the data provided by the company. Ipec completed the year 2023 with a turnover of approximately 29 million euros. The company is among the world’s largest players in homeware and fine china, with about 50 million pieces manufactured annually and shipped globally, from Japan to the US, according to previous reports.

“We estimate a 15% increase in business this year, compared to 2023. We have reached over 500 employees, we continue the robotization of the factory in Alba Iulia, but we will also hire more staff”, Cristian Covaciu, co-founder and shareholder of IPEC.

Several hundred industrial robots are currently operating in the IPEC factory in Alba Iulia, the company being among the top companies in Romania in terms of the use of industrial robots in the production process. IPEC Alba Iulia works both with restaurants and with some of the biggest retailers in Europe, such as IKEA, Carrefour, Metro and Aldi. IPEC Alba Iulia officials announced last fall that they plan to invest 10 million euros in a porcelain cup production unit. The factory will also be located in Alba Iulia, where the company’s current production unit is also located, and construction is to be started this year, according to previous information.
